As Leeds United raises the West Ham fee the Crysencio Summerville clause becomes apparent.

Sean Whetstone claims that Leeds United could receive up to £34 million from West Ham United in exchange for Crysencio Summerville.

A medical is scheduled for Thursday, August 1st, according to a report from Hammers reporter Whetstone via the West Ham Football account on X [31 July]. The Irons will give Leeds an upfront payment of £25 million, which is a huge deal for West Ham, plus an additional £5 million in performance-based bonuses.

The remaining £4 million is related to a contract provision that will come into play if Summerville is awarded a complete senior cap for the Netherlands.

Leeds United could have obtained Crysencio Summerville for a higher price.

Leeds finds the initial £25 million payment for a player voted the best in the Championship the previous season to be very meager.

Considering the rumored interest in Summerville from other parts of England and Europe, shouldn’t Leeds have pressed for a higher initial offer? More like £34 million, but it would need a number of conditions to be met, including his complete debut in the Netherlands. The former Under-21 international would not be out of the question to accomplish that, but Leeds are now in a very weak position.

At Elland Road, players come and go in the end, but the main query is: Have the Whites received a better deal than this? On that front, only time will tell.
