Gabby Agbonlahor discusses Matty Cash and his tackle on Tottenham player Rodrigo Bentancur in the latest Aston Villa news.
Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has supported Matty Cash following his weekend contentious tackle on Rodrigo Bentancur.
Cash made a late tackle on Bentancur as Villa defeated Tottenham 2-1 in north London on Saturday. The Tottenham player will now be out for at least 10 weeks due to ankle ligament damage.
Bentancur made his first Tottenham start in nine months after recovering from an ACL injury. He now faces another period on the sidelines, but Agbonlahor has sent him a message.
“Bad tackles happen in football,” he wrote on Twitter. “I’m sure Matty Cash has already contacted Bentancur!” Let us all wish him a quick recovery!”
Villa fans are in agreement with the former forward. “It was only a yellow in retrospect,” one added. Cashy isn’t that kind of guy.”
“If Spurs hadn’t had a few injuries and he hadn’t just come back,” another commented, “it wouldn’t even be being discussed.” The conditions at Tottenham do not make the tackle worse, but this appears to be the case here.”
“Cash isn’t a dirty player,” a third said. Everything about Bentancur has been completely exaggerated.”
