Authentic – Tottenham ‘interested’ in £77m star: Arsenal may sign the striker first

Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with the same striker heading into the January transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur and several other Premier League clubs have been linked with a move for Paris Saint Germain forward Kolo Muani ahead of the January transfer window.

The striker signed the French giants in September 2023 for a staggering £76.4 million after scoring 26 goals and assisting 17 times in just 50 appearances for Bundesliga club Eintracht Frankfurt. However, in 54 games for PSG, he has only 11 goals and seven assists, and L’Equipe reported earlier this month that the player will be permitted to depart Paris in January due to being deemed’surplus’ to requirements.

The Evening Standard said that the striker has already been offered to Arsenal, who have long been connected with adding to their forward line. According to Sky Sports Germany writer Florian Plettenberg, Tottenham and RB Leipzig are interested in signing the midfielder, while Liverpool and Manchester United are monitoring the situation. The Red Devils had previously been linked with an interest.

Spurs plan January reinforcements.

Spurs manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed that the club will aim to add to its squad in January, following their 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest on Boxing Day. He said, “As I previously stated, we have been planning. Much of it would take place about where we are now. It’s fair to say that we’re still a little short in a few of areas that require reinforcement. January is difficult in terms of bringing in players.

“For us, and I suppose for any club, you want to bring in people who will help you grow. I believe that because we are still in the Carabao Cup semi-finals, have Europe, the FA Cup, and are competing in all tournaments, our workload is unlikely to relax at any point. So, I believe it makes sense. We’ll try to reinforce; where and how many we’ll have to wait and see.”

Arsenal is ‘prepared’ in case something comes up.

The Gunners have also been preparing what they can do in the January transfer window next month, as they attempt to cut the gap on Premier League leaders Liverpool. Arsenal have suffered injury setbacks in the recent week, with Bukayo Saka and Raheem Sterling both sidelined. A striker has been on their wishlist for some time, with Newcastle United and Sporting CP player Viktor Gyökeres being linked with a move to north London.

When asked what could be done in January, Arteta responded before of Friday’s game against Ipswich Town: “Yes, the preparation is complete. We are prepared if something happens. Obviously, we did not anticipate the issue with Bukayo and Raheem at the same moment. We predicted more if something had happened, say, in the defensive line. But the task is over. Okay, if something needs to happen, we’ll be open. But the key focus now is on how we can harness the potential of this group.”
