Leeds United: David James wants Archie Gray to join Liverpool in a’smart’ transfer conclusion.

The former Liverpool goalkeeper argued that Gray’s frequent appearances for Leeds had prepared him for the transition to Anfield, where he would face the expectations and pressure of playing for a large club. James also stated that, despite his age, Liverpool’s track record of giving young talent opportunities implies the 17-year-old may make an immediate impact on the club. Speaking to GGRecon [22 February], James said:  “For a young player to be able to demonstrate the ability and consistency required to remain in that team is  impressive. “To be fair, Leeds are a large team, and the expectation in Leeds, particularly in the Championship, is that they should be in the Premier League instead. “So, in many respects, he’s learning what it’s like to play for Liverpool because the expectations are the same, albeit on a different level. “Would it be better for him in the long run to continue with Leeds United next season? I am not sure. Over the last few years, a lot of young Liverpool players have been given opportunities to play under Jürgen Klopp. “Archie is still so young, so it could be a smart signing for Liverpool in the long run and it could be a good opportunity for the player himself.” Will Archie Gray leave Leeds United for Liverpool? Gray, who is only 17 years old, has been practically ever-present in Daniel Farke’s side, appearing in 31 of Leeds’  33  Championship games this season. Gray had previously been linked with both Liverpool and Crystal Palace, but he signed a new four-and-a-half-year contract with Leeds in January. Signing the new long-term contract demonstrated his dedication to the club where both his father and grandfather  played, which will undoubtedly influence his decision-making. Llorente, a Roma defender, had to be stretchered off against Feyenoord.

Diego Llorente was stretchered out during the Europa League play-off against Feyenoord, causing concern for Roma. The defender went up for the ball with Ayase Ueda and came off much worse, seeming to strike his temple on the Japan international’s shoulder. He appeared bewildered, and after many minutes of treatment, he was stretchered away and sent to a nearby  hospital for testing. Llorente did not appear to lose consciousness at any moment, but he was clearly unable to complete the fight. The 30-year-old Spain international is on loan at Roma from Leeds United, with a €5 million buyout clause that becomes an obligation if certain circumstances are met.    This departure allowed Roma to give Evan Ndicka his first appearance in 2024 after returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty. Roma and Feyenoord drew 1-1, the same result as in Rotterdam, therefore the match will go to extra time at the  Stadio Olimpico.

Leeds United capture Liverpool talent in Thorp Arch recruitment campaign under 49er Enterprises.

As part of the ongoing academy revamp at Thorp Arch, Leeds United has recruited Liverpool’s coaching chief Martin Diggle. Diggle is set to be named United’s new academy manager and start work in the coming weeks. As first reported by Training Ground Guru, Adam Underwood made the appointment following his own promotion last July. The long-time academy director has been promoted to head of football operations, allowing a new face to handle  the youth divisions on a daily basis. Since July 2019, Diggle has served as Liverpool’s head of coach development, overseeing operations at the club’s Kirkby training facility. According to the Premier League giant’s website, Diggle is a UEFA A and Advanced Youth Award  coach and tutor with over 15 years of experience in football development. After commencing his coaching career at Bolton Wanderers, he went on to become a lecturer in sports coaching at  Leeds Beckett University, where he had previously earned a master’s degree. Diggle spent nearly nine years at  The Football Association, where he rose to oversee all professional game coach development for the regulatory body. Diggle will report to Underwood at Thorp Arch, after Jordan Miles’ recent appointment as head of recruitment, who works in a similar capacity for Gretar Steinsson. Scott Gardner was another recent addition to the Whites’  roster, being named permanent under-21s head coach last month.

Ipswich star reveals why Leicester City has an edge over Leeds United.

Leeds have beaten Ipswich twice this season, scoring eight goals, while Leicester have only drawn with the Tractor Boys, but Conor Chaplin believes Enzo Maresca’s men are the better side. Leicester City have an advantage over Leeds United as the top team in the Championship because they make opponents feel inferior, according to Ipswich Town’s Conor Chaplin. This season, City was unable to defeat the Tractor Boys, with both games finishing in 1-1 draws, with Ipswich scoring  late. Meanwhile, Leeds have beaten Ipswich twice, first 4-3 in August and then 4-0 in December. Despite the results, offensive midfielder Chaplin believes City are the superior team because of how they make you feel during games. Leicester and Leeds face off at Elland Road on Friday night, with nine points separating  them at the top of the division. Chaplin told Talksport:  “It probably sounds foolish given we were hammered at Leeds and drew twice with Leicester, but I think Leicester [are superior] in terms of how they make you feel on the pitch. “Possession makes you feel inferior without the ball, therefore Leicester is probably the cause. But we’ve lost twice to Leeds, and we failed to put a glove on them in the second game. “They’re both really good teams, with really good players, but Leicester with their style of play make you feel very inferior.” Ipswich may be hoping City beats Leeds on Friday (8 p.m. kickoff). If they merely get a draw, the Tractor Boys  can  return  to the top two with a victory over Birmingham on Saturday.

Lee Kang-in, a footballer, has issued a personal apology to his  teammate and Korea’s national team captain, Son  Heung-min. “I did something I should never have done,” Lee admitted in a contrite apology. Lee, who plays for Paris Saint-Germain, also issued a written apology on his Instagram account on Wednesday. “I have severely disappointed the entire team, particularly Heung-min, and football fans. “I met with Heung-min to sincerely apologize,” he added. Lee and Son, two Korean football icons, have been at odds over the Korean national team, who lost 0-2 to Jordan in  the AFC Asian Cup semifinals on February 7. The two got into a fight, with some sources alleging Lee swung at Tottenham’s Son, under circumstances that have yet to be definitively explained. Lee’s spokeswoman disputed accusations that he struck the team captain. “My irresponsible and thoughtless behavior during the Asian Cup has disappointed many people. I felt it was vital for me to apologize to Heung-min in person. We had a lengthy chat, which made me think on myself and comprehend the responsibility he holds as team captain. Tottenham Hotspur have an interest in signing Ezequiel Fernandez, an Argentine defensive midfielder from Boca Juniors. According to Fichajes, the 21-year-old South American midfielder is on their radar, and they are eager to do everything possible to bring him to the club.
