According to Beren Cross, Darko Gyabi’s loan move from Leeds United to Plymouth Argyle does not contain the option of making the transfer permanent
On Thursday (11 January), a Leeds Live journalist reported that the 19-year-old will be unable to face the Whites this season in either the league or the FA Cup because Leeds has not granted Argyle permission to field him.
Gyabi’s stint at Home Park will be limited to the remainder of the Championship season, as no option to buy was included in the temporary agreement, meaning he will return to Elland Road at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Could still be present
This season, Gyabi‘s career at Leeds United has very little halted. Last season, the 19-year-old made three appearances for the Whites, one of which was in the Premier League as Sam Allardyce‘s team was demoted to the Championship.
He has only made two appearances this season, both of which were in the Championship—a one-minute cameo from the bench against Ipswich Town back in August—and has been reduced to the status of a peripheral player under Daniel Farke.Although the adolescent has clearly had a lot of talent—otherwise, he wouldn’t have spent so much of his career in the Manchester City development system—he hasn’t been able to show it off while wearing a Leeds United jersey, for whatever reason.
Hopefully, he will get the chance to get his career back on track and earn some invaluable experience in England’s second division during his loan term away from Elland Road, which he can then bring back to
Thorp Arch at the conclusion of the season.
The midfielder may still have a future at Elland Road even if he isn’t ready because Leeds seems eager to keep him around even after cutting all relations with him in January.
In other Leeds United news, a West Ham United defender could be available for loan to the Whites.
