Before the trip to Coventry City, Blackburn Rovers’ manager issues a warning that his team “won’t win games.”
Blackburn Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson admits ahead of Wednesday night’s trip to Coventry City that his side have to start defending better or they “won’t win games”. Rovers have now conceded a joint-high 20 goals in the Championship this season.
Only Southampton have conceded the same number, and 15 of those have come in their last five games. Their latest collapse saw them lose 4-1 at home to Leicester City, while they conceded four at Ipswich and let in another three at Ewood Park against Sunderland before that in a run of three straight Championship defeats.
“We gave away some poor goals but they are learning on the job against a very good side,” Tomasson said after his side’s latest result against the league leaders, which leaves the club in 18th in the division, with ten points from their opening nine games.
The manager believes the goals are a result of individual errors, rather than a systematic issue, and he did acknowledge the team – which includes former Sky Blues man Dom Hyam – are not defending well enough.
