Brighton player flirts with a summer transfer – Move on the cards, happy to prove people wrong.

Deniz Undav’s decision to join VfB Stuttgart on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion in the previous transfer window clearly paid dividends.

After overcoming a knee injury at the start of the season, the forward has managed eight goals and two assists in ten games for the Bundesliga side.

The 27-year-old’s contract at Brighton expires in 2027, so he will have to return to The Amex. That is according to the player, who stated this when asked about his future plans by Sky Deutschland.

In response, the German stated that he would not be opposed to extending his stay in Stuttgart.

Deniz Undav

“I’m under contract with Brighton.” As of now, he plans to return to Brighton in the summer.

“However, the season is still long.” The emphasis is on VfB. I want to achieve as much success as possible. VfB is a fantastic club. I’m delighted to be here. The fans are fantastic. I fit in well, and the team was welcoming. I’m not opposed to it at all.”

These comments come a day after the Brighton-owned player stated that he can “imagine” staying at the German club beyond his loan period.
Bild reported two days ago that Stuttgart has a €12 million purchase option as part of the temporary agreement. Given this and his recent comments, it’s possible he’ll leave the Seagulls next summer.

Deniz Undav

Undav spent the majority of his career in Germany’s lower leagues before joining Royale Union Saint-Gilloise in 2020. His form in Belgium aided his move to Brighton, but the attacker has struggled to make an impression.

Undav reflected on his career thus far, saying, “Sometimes I still think, ‘I just scored four goals in the Bundesliga.'” ‘How does something like that function?’ Nobody had faith in me. I didn’t have faith in myself. I only played football for recreation. And when you get home, you tell your wife and family, ‘I made it’.

“It’s crazy to think that I’ve proven it to people who never believed in me.” It took longer than anticipated and required a different career path.”
