Brighton’s Talent Is Getting Attention From Germany: Can De Zerbi Afford To Lose Him?

Pascal Gross, a Brighton talent, is attracting interest from Germany, with Eintracht Frankfurt hoping to sign him in 2024.

According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Brighton and Hove Albion talent Pascal Gross is attracting interest from Germany, with Eintracht Frankfurt hoping to sign him in the near future. The German club is thought to have inquired about signing the talented playmaker from the Seagulls next season.

Gross’s Promising Form in English Football

The 32-year-old has been a solid performer at the heart of Roberto De Zerbi‘s midfield after a string of impressive Premier League displays for them. Gross has three goals and one assist in 14 games this season for the Seagulls in various competitions.

In the Premier League, the veteran midfielder averaged 1.2 tackles, 0.5 interceptions, 1.5 shots, 2.2 key passes, and 0.7 dribbles per game. He has also been accurate with his ball distribution, completing 89.7% of his attempted passes in the English Premier League (stats from whoscored).

His current contract with Brighton expires in the summer of 2025. As a result, Brighton will have to sell him next summer or risk losing him on a free transfer the following year.

Can Brighton’s manager, Roberto De Zerbi, afford to lose Gross?

Gross is a strong tackler who can get the ball back for his team inside his half. He has the ability to shoot the ball with power from long distance and has the vision to create a few inviting chances for his teammates in the attacking end of the field.

With the ball at his feet, the German midfielder is a decent dribbler. He is primarily a box-to-box midfielder, but he can also fill in as a defensive midfielder or an attacking midfielder if his manager instructs him to do so.

Gross, 32, still has a few years left to play at a high level. Brighton, on the other hand, might be enticed to cash in on him next year if they want to build a strong squad for the future.

Overall, De Zerbi would be wise to keep Gross until the end of the season before making a decision on the player’s future at the Amex Stadium.
