Carlton Palmer believes Leeds United will win the race to sign Millwall defender Jake Cooper.

If Millwall centre-back Jake Cooper becomes available this window, Carlton Palmer believes Leeds United will win the race to sign him.

The former Leeds defender stated the club would be favourites to acquire Cooper, ahead of clubs such as West Brom, who would be vying for promotion this season.

Cooper has been linked with moves to both clubs this summer, but Millwall manager Gary Rowett has stated that the club intends to extend his contract in the coming weeks [South London Press, 17 August] in order to fight off interested clubs.

The BBC pundit told Football League World on August 17th, “He would fit in at either club, but I think Leeds would win the race for his signature if he was allowed to leave, on the basis that Leeds will be pushing for promotion, added to the fact West Brom seem to be having all kinds of financial problems.”
