Tottenham right-back Djed Spence’s’recall clause’ has been activated by Leeds United.
He spent the first half of the season on loan at Yorkshire, appearing in only seven games due to an ankle injury sustained in training. However, now that Spence has returned to the N17, Spurs intend to send him on another loan term, according to Fabrizio Romano via Twitter.
He spent the second part of last season on loan at Ligue 1 club Stade Rennais, where he made 10 appearances across all competitions before joining Leeds. The player has only made six appearances with the Lilywhites in all competitions.
According to Romano, Tottenham’s immediate plan for the player is to loan him out again, and he is anticipated to leave in the coming days.
The specific destination for his next loan spell remains undisclosed, but it underlines Spurs’ commitment to providing Spence with consistent playing time to aid in his overall development. He comes off as a player who has a bit of disciplinary issues, evident from his spell at Middlesborough but in terms of footballing ability, he is a very talented player with a natural instinct to carry the ball deep into attacking zones.
