Chris Wood discusses Nuno Espirito Santo’s Nottingham Forest “ideas” in the wake of the Bournemouth loss.

Chris Wood thinks that if there hadn’t been decisions made on the field, Nottingham Forest may have gotten more out of their match against Bournemouth.

After Willy Boly saw red in the first half, Forest was reduced to ten men. After a contentious foul on Adam Smith of Bournemouth, he was sent off.

Anthony Elanga gave the home team the lead in goal despite their numerical disadvantage. However, Nuno Espirito Santo, who was in charge of his debut game, was dealt a fatal blow by Dominic Solanke’s hat-trick.

“When you go down to 10, you have to fight and do things that are not in the game plan,” Wood said in an interview with Sky Sports following the game. Despite some goals being conceded, we battled hard to enter the game and performed well in doing so. You have to be tough because you can’t give up at 2-2. It’s difficult to accept, like a hammer blow.”

Additionally, Wood thinks that if certain decisions had been made, the outcome might have been different and that several decisions went against the home team. He continued, “I haven’t seen it back, but I thought it was pretty harsh at the time,” in reference to Boly’s dismissal.

I believe the referee needs to look into it, but there are a few incidences that I would like to have reviewed because they turned out badly for us.”

Regretfully, Nuno’s rule began with a loss, but Wood is confident the Portuguese manager can improve the group. “You have to take on what the new manager wants,” he stated. “We wish to advance and improve. Although we weren’t flawless, we are aware that he has excellent ideas to improve our team and make it more competitive.
