Maximilian Wöber has been a standout for Borussia Mönchengladbach since signing on loan from Leeds United in the last transfer window.
Gladbach sporting director Nils Schmadtke praised the centre-back as a ‘fighter’ earlier this month, but declined to discuss the idea of extending his stay beyond this season.
The Rheinische Post published a piece on the Leeds-owned player titled ‘no shoes are too big for Wöber‘ on Wednesday.
The defender comes at the German club to ‘fill a key void’ in the squad, according to the report, and it concentrates on what is ahead for him in the coming months.
Leeds hired Daniel Farke in the summer, and the 25-year-old told the manager right away that he wanted to join Gladbach. He’s appeared in eight games this season, recording two assists.
According to Rheinische Post, there is no one like Wöber at Gladbach, and they ‘benefit from him in many areas’. This includes his defensive skills, ability to create opportunities from set pieces, and leadership traits.
At the end of last season, the Bundesliga club made Julian Weigl‘s loan stay permanent for €7 million. The report emphasises this and adds that it is’still too early to talk about figures and timelines’ for the Whites to purchase the Austria international.
