The club made a mistake by not signing Tottenham Ace ‘immediately’ for £17 million.

Giovanni Galli, a former Fiorentina goalkeeper, believes the Serie A club should have ‘immediately’ recruited Guglielmo Vicario before Tottenham Hotspur transferred him to the Premier League.

Ange Postecoglou made sure to outline the function his new £17 million goalkeeper will play in North London at his first news conference as Tottenham‘s new head coach this week.

According to Postecoglou, the new players joining the team will assist the players adopt (my style of play) more rapidly. “I have power over that portion. Whether Guglielmo Vicario or James Maddison is in goal.

They are players who suit the course I want to take, which is helpful.

Naturally, the inference is that Maddison and Vicario will assist Postecoglou‘s Tottenham in adjusting to a more proactive, front-foot style after spending the previous few seasons driving a disgruntled fans into a stupor with their defensive-first strategies.

The new goalie for Tottenham is Guglielmo Vicario.
One of those’modern’ goalkeepers is Vicario, a bit of a late bloomer at 26. Not only is he an excellent shot blocker, as demonstrated by one great triple save last season, but he can also serve as an additional outfielder when his side is in control of the ball.

Before the former Empoli glovesman signed with Spurs, clubs like Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, and Inter Milan displayed interest. There has also been some confusion as to why Fiorentina did not pursue a move of their own.

Galli tells Gazzetta dello Sport that Pietro Terracciano, the current Viola goalie, “did a good job.” But there’s a gap to be filled.

“For 20 million euros, I would have gone and bought Vicario right away.”

Vicario, a former Udinese player, is most likely to begin the 2019–20 season as Spurs’ new number one, joining Destiny Udogie as newcomers to the club.

Still a member of Tottenham, Hugo Lloris. The Frenchman’s more than ten-year tenure as Spurs’ first-choice goalkeeper, though, looks to be coming to an end as the purist Postecoglou searches for a more versatile alternative between the posts.
