Following Saturday’s 3-3 draw between Leeds United and Portsmouth, Jeff Stelling thinks Daniel Farke should be worried about his team’s defense (10 August).
Pascal Struijk’s penalty kick after ten minutes gave Leeds their first goal of the season, but Brenden Aaronson’s goal in the fifth minute of extra time was enough to rescue a draw at Elland Road.
After Farke’s team was repeatedly exposed to counterattacks, and after Jayden Bogle, a recent addition, controversially conceded a penalty, Stelling has now warned the manager of the Whites.
On Monday, August 12, at 6:44 a.m., he made a live statement on talkSPORT, saying, “That was unbelievable.” I believed it may be a landslide at that point. They ultimately need a 90+5′ equalizer.
Nevertheless, I am aware that Aaronson may have helped them win. That defense must be concerning for Daniel Farke, doesn’t it?
Is the Portsmouth performance cause for alarm for Leeds United supporters?
After losing to a freshly promoted team and not winning all three points, supporters of the new Championship season are already losing their minds just one game into it.
Despite its overuse, the league season is a marathon rather than a sprint. The sadness of not getting promoted last semester will give the Whites plenty of opportunity to violate their rights.
Along with teams like Sheffield United, Burnley, and Luton Town, Leeds should undoubtedly be fighting for automatic promotion and the league championship. Even though Joe Rodon was a fantastic arrival this summer and could be crucial for Farke, some of the defense at Elland Road may already raise some concerns.
The center-back combination of Rodon and Struijk may be quite effective for Leeds this season, especially with Ethan Ampadu returning to his more natural position in midfield. If the Whites are to be promoted to the Premier League, there is still a lot of work to be done.
Max Wober is not in a rush to remain at Elland Road before the deadline of August 30. This is additional Leeds United news.
