Colombian media have slammed Leeds United loanee Luis Sinisterra for his performance on international duty this morning.
Sinisterra came on as a 70th-minute substitute in Colombia‘s 1-1 draw with Chile, but he should’ve won the game, according to AS, who criticised his decision-making in the final third.
With 15 minutes remaining, the 24-year-old had a fantastic opportunity to open the scoring but fluffed his lines not once, but twice.
First, Sinisterra was unable to connect with Matheus Uribe‘s right-wing cross but received a fortunate break when the ball dropped straight back to him inside the area with the goal open.
Instead of shooting, Sinisterra attempted to pass and was intercepted, much to the chagrin of Colombian fans and the media.
Sinisterra, a Leeds loanee, is chastised by Colombian media.
AS chastised Sinisterra for failing to ‘complete the plays’ that could have gained them three points in their post-match analysis on each player’s performance.
“He entered the 70th minute and missed the clearest option for the Colombian National Team.” First, he failed to connect with Matheus Uribe’s centre and booted into the air, and then, on the same play, he chose to make a back pass rather than finish. He was unable to complete the plays.”
Sinisterra can also count himself extremely fortunate that his missed opportunity did not lose his team the game, as Chile went up the other end and scored, only to have it ruled out by VAR.
It’s strange to see a player of Sinisterra‘s calibre make such a foolish decision, but Leeds fans everywhere will share a sigh of relief upon his demise.
Sinisterra left Leeds in contentious circumstances for Bournemouth on deadline day, leaving many supporters disappointed.
