Following the latest Everton takeover developments at Goodison Park, Michael Ball has instructed Dan Friedkin to “provide some answers.”
The Toffees announced in September that the Friedkin Group and Farhad Moshiri had struck a long-standing deal for the acquisition of the majority interest in the football club held by the current Blues owner [Fabrizio Romano, 23 September].
The Financial Conduct Authority, the Premier League, and the FA still need to accept the takeover, but Liverpool Echo commentator Ball has urged Friedkin to learn from Moshiri’s mistakes so that supporters can “dream again.”
“I think the way Dan Friedkin runs Roma, he lets the football people get on with the football business and trusts in his employees having brought in the personnel who he sees fit to carry out those roles,” the writer wrote in an article for the Liverpool Echo on Tuesday, October 1.
“Nobody actually accepted responsibility under Moshiri, not even the owner or chairman, not even sporting directors or managers.
“It seemed like there were “too many cooks,” but when something went wrong, no one really seemed to step up, and in my opinion, that was the end of Everton Football Club.
“Hopefully, Friedkin can take all that on board, learn from the mistakes of the previous regime and provide some answers so we can all dream again.”

Goodison Park is experiencing hope and optimism for the first time in a long time, therefore it makes sense that both observers and supporters want this new era to start as soon as possible. Fans must keep in mind that there is still a great deal of work to be done by the authorities on Merseyside, so even once the takeover is accepted by the appropriate authorities, things won’t change instantly. Given the Friedkin‘s prior success at Roma, it appears that they possess the necessary skills to properly manage a football team, and there is no reason why the American owners of the Toffees can’t do the same.
