Leeds United will be searching for their first league win of the season against Birmingham City, and Daniel Farke has provided an update on Sam Greenwood and Georginio Rutter.
Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke has provided a favourable injury report on both Sam Greenwood and record acquisition Georginio Rutter. When the Whites travel to Birmingham City on Saturday, they will be looking for their first league win of the season.
Greenwood is not anticipated to be considered for selection until after the first international break, and he has ‘no chance’ of playing at St Andrews. However, the 21-year-old has participated in sections of training with the squad with Rutter, who could be named in the matchday squad.
When asked if the Whites would welcome any players returning from injury or new acquisitions on Saturday, Farke said, “We will see.” In terms of fresh faces, we will discuss it once everything has been completed and agreed upon. At least some good and encouraging news about Greenwood and Rutter.
“They participated in team training for the first time this week today.” Obviously, Sam has been out for four weeks and has little chance of playing in the weekend game.
“But Georgie only missed one and a half weeks; we’ll see how it progresses over the next 48 hours, but the signs are promising.” He might be available, maybe not for 90 minutes, but he might be able to travel with us.
“If this is possible, it would undoubtedly benefit our quality players up front.” I’m hoping to get Georgie available as soon as possible, and there’s even a potential for the weekend.”
