Leeds United travel to Stoke City this week looking for another three points after winning three in a row, and Willy Gnonto will be pushing for a starting spot.
Leeds United got to within six points of the top two after beating Norwich City away from home on Saturday, while Ipswich Town‘s trip to Rotherham United was postponed.
It also demonstrates how Leeds are seeking to improve with each passing week under Daniel Farke, who currently has three wins on the spin.
After a terrible run of play, Stoke City just edged over Sunderland on Saturday to move up to 20th in the rankings.
Farke receives a significant selection bump
To say the least, it was a fascinating contest at Carrow Road, with Leeds coming from two goals down to win 3-2.
Farke‘s tactical change in the second half guaranteed that he had as much attacking talent as possible on the pitch, with Joel Piroe, Patrick Bamford, Georginio Rutter, Jaidon Anthony, Crysencio Summerville, and Willy Gnonto all on as they hunted the winner.
It was Gnonto‘s first appearance since hurting his ankle in the 0-0 draw at Hull City, and he added some tremendous menace to Leeds’ wide-play, as he passed the ball off to Summerville for the equaliser.
Gnonto to start against Stoke?
The Potters are Leeds‘ next opponents, and Farke will need to rotate his players to keep them fresh at both ends of the pitch.
Fortunately for Leeds, they have far more depth in attack than their competitors from last season, so alterations for fitness do not lose quality as much as other sides.
This might mean that Gnonto is brought back in for his first start since that mid-September trip to Hull.
Dan James being dropped may seem harsh given that he was the man who got Leeds back into the game at Norwich, but rotation is necessary and his impact off the bench is huge, especially given that Stoke will have to deal with Gnonto and Summerville for an hour before seeing the quickest player in the division come on.
