Tottenham Hotspur are a different beast this season, producing results and generally playing good football.
Spurs are second in the Premier League table and did enough to take all three points last week against a tenacious Sheffield United.
Ange Postecoglou deserves a lot of respect for what he’s accomplished at Tottenham in a relatively short period of time.Similarly, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy should be credited in bringing the Australian to N17.
Postecoglou arrived at Tottenham to a mixed reaction, but he immediately won over the majority of the fans.Levy took part in a fans’ forum at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday and was quizzed about a variety of topics.
He spoke extensively about Postecoglou and how excited he was to employ the 57-year-old since he understood the club’s DNA.
In addition, the Spurs chairman hopes that Postecoglou will strengthen the relationship between the first squad and the club’s academy in the future.
“One of the reasons why we asked Ange to become our manager is that he believes in the academy,” Levy remarked, as reported by football.london.
“The connection between the first team and the academy is crucial. This is a club where we as fans get a lot of excitement when we see a player progress from the academy to the first team.
“We want to see that flourish, and I believe that over the years we’ve developed some very good players in our academy who will eventually make their way into the first team.”
Our view
Sometimes you have to make judgements that aren’t universally acceptable but will pay off in the long run.Not everyone was happy when Tottenham hired Postecoglou, but he has certainly won over every sceptic. And we’re just getting started with him. The longer he stays at Spurs, the more expertise and knowledge he will gain about the club and the league.
Then there are future transfer windows, when Tottenham can bring in more players while dumping those who don’t match Postecoglou’s philosophy.
Then there’s the possibility of academy players making the cut and eventually becoming senior first-team players.Let’s hope that more elite players break into the first team and become future stars.
