Latest Nottingham Forest news from Nottingham shireLive: Danilo hopes Felipe reverses his decision to retire.
Danilo has stated that he hopes Felipe reverses his decision to retire at the end of the season.
Felipe confirmed earlier this week that he will retire when his contract with Nottingham Forest expires in the summer. However, Reds teammate Danilo is hopeful that the Brazilian defender would reconsider and stay at the City Ground for another season.
Danilo told ESPN Brasil: “He used to make a few comments, but Murillo and I said no, because it was too early to retire. But now he’s announced on social media that it’s official. “The decision has become more concrete.
“He did a lot with Corinthians, Porto, Atlético de Madrid, with us here last season and now that he’s regaining his confidence after a long time out of the game,” he said. “I hope he stays here with us for another year and retires in another season.”
Felipe announced his decision on Instagram, writing, “I’ve been thinking a lot over the last few months and, together with my family, have made a decision about my future in football.” There were wonderful experiences, a career for which I am grateful, playing for great teams in four different countries, the Brazilian national team, and a lot of history to tell for the rest of my life.
“But it’s time to leave the lawns, and the plan is to end the season here in Nottingham Forest, England.” It is still too early to explain the reasons, which I will do in the future, because I still have a contract and want to fulfill it, as I have for all of the teams I have defended.
“But, out of respect for the clubs that have been seeking for me in the future, as well as my current club, I wanted to come here to push this matter and talk openly and honestly. Thank you, and let us make the most of the remaining months with delight, passion, and dedication.”
