Danny Murphy believes Guglielmo Vicario of Tottenham Hotspur is the greatest goalkeeper in the Premier League this season.
Murphy has picked his best XI of the season so far, while Guglielmo Vicario has been named goalkeeper.
Vicario has outperformed expectations since joining Tottenham from Empoli in the summer.
Tottenham paid just £17.2 million for the Italian after being linked with a move for David Raya.
Spurs will be pleased with their decision to target Vicario, with the Italian having an immediate effect in North London.
Vicario has already been named to Jamie Carragher‘s Premier League Team of the Season so far.
Murphy has now followed suit, suggesting that the Spurs shot-stopper has been the league’s’standout’ custodian this season.
Vicario, according to Murphy, is the best player in the Premier League right now.
Murphy praised Vicario on talkSPORT after an encouraging start to life at Tottenham.
“I think a lot of the players I’ve chosen are people who have exceeded expectations and really kicked on to a place I didn’t think they were capable of,” he told reporters.
“Considering he came as an unknown to many of us, the way he’s adapted so quickly, the Tottenham keeper, Vicario, has been brilliant.” “I believe he has been the standout.”
Based on his current form, Vicario has swiftly established himself as one of the finest goalkeepers in the league.
Many predicted that Tottenham would struggle to replace long-term number one Hugo Lloris. However, it appears that they were successful on the first try.
Of course, Lloris recently left the club on a free transfer after 11 years.
