David Prutton predicts the outcome of Leeds United’s match against Coventry City for Sky Sports, calling it a ‘disastrous’ verdict

Sky Sports host David Prutton has made his predictions for Leeds United’s match against Coventry City at Elland Road on Saturday (16 December).

The Whites will be looking to get back to winning ways at home against a resurgent Coventry after a disappointing defeat to Sunderland on Tuesday (12 December), which harmed their automatic promotion bid.

Daniel Farke’s men host a Coventry side that has improved under Mark Robins after a sluggish start to the season, and Prutton predicts the home side to bounce back after a “disastrous” defeat for Sky Sports (14 December).

Leeds have as many points after 21 games as Burnley did last season,” he said. The difference is that the Clarets did not have to contend with the breakneck pace of Leicester and Ipswich, which has made midweek defeats like the one at Sunderland seem disastrous.

“Coventry is progressing and improving. They were held by Southampton in midweek, and it will be interesting to see how much chasing around they have taken out of them as they travel to Elland Road.

“However, I believe Leeds will recover and win.”

“Prediction: 2-1.”

Redemption

Farke and his team will undoubtedly be looking for redemption when they face Coventry on Saturday, following their rare defeat at the hands of Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

A Leeds United side brimming with quality and experience appeared devoid of ideas and imagination in the final third, as a managerless Sunderland side easily shut them out.

Leeds are unlucky in the sense that Ipswich and Leicester are winning every week and benefiting from significant amounts of luck, but they have also earned it, which the Whites did not do in midweek.

Farke, on the other hand, will know what separates his team from the top two, and that is a ruthless edge even when the going gets tough, something Leeds United did not do on Tuesday.

The Whites face a resurgent Coventry side at Elland Road, who have enjoyed a decent run of form in recent weeks, with one defeat in their last five games, but their away form is lacking, with only two wins from their last ten games.

Leeds United must not make the same mistake twice. A must-win situation.
