Rice wanted to stay in London and collaborate with Mikel Arteta, even though he had to choose between the Gunners and Man City.

Given their shared distaste for Tottenham Hotspur, it even sparked a rivalry between West Ham and Arsenal that had never really existed before. Two clubs that have never truly shared a rivalry have developed one of sorts as a result of the £105 million transfer.

Rice left the London Stadium for The Emirates with a great deal of grace and respect, unlike several former West Ham academy graduates who went on to play for Premier League opponents.

Additionally, he has not yet kissed the Arsenal badge—something that too many people who have left West Ham have done.
