Dedryck Boyata, a former center-back for Celtic, has lost his club.

The 34-year-old Belgian defender’s contract with Club Brugge was canceled, making him a free agent.

Since February of last year, Boyata had been shut out of Club Brugge and had not played a single minute. The club, eager to break relations, sent him to practice with reserves.

The defender, who won a treble with Celtic in the 2017–18 campaign, has now agreed to leave the team after just 26 games over a two-year period.

“Dedryck Boyata and Club Brugge decided today to terminate their contract by mutual agreement,” a Brugge statement verified.

In August 2022, Boyata (34) transferred from the German Hertha BSC. In the end, the defender appeared in 26 games for the team and scored one goal.

At Club Brugge, Boyata has already reacted angrily to treatment.

“I get a program that I have to do at home, away from the training center, and sometimes I train alone, and sometimes with the reserves,” he stated. My biggest problem is that I am cut off from everyone and everything.

“They requested that I change in the tiny space where the cleaning crew stores their belongings. I declined. I simply do it in the changing room after picking up my items there.

Additionally, I can no longer dine at the club because I am only permitted to train in the afternoon. In this manner, they wish to ensure that I don’t communicate with my teammates in any manner.
