Defender will finish his free transfer following Nottingham Forest’s decision.

Scott McKenna, a former defender for Nottingham Forest who left the City Ground at the end of the previous campaign, is expected to finalize his transfer to Las Palmas, a Spanish team.

Scottish center half McKenna, 27, spent four years in the East Midlands with Forest, making 106 appearances.

McKenna joined the team in September 2020 after leaving SPL side Aberdeen for a reported £3 million transfer. He quickly established himself and was instrumental in the team’s successful May 2022 promotion back to the Premier League, earning the team’s player of the year award.

In their first season back in the Premier League, Forest solidified their spot in the top division, but they were mainly without McKenna due to his hamstring and collarbone injuries. After that, he lost favor with the team last season and was loaned to FC Copenhagen for the second half of the season.

As the Tartan Army exited the competition in the group stage, McKenna dutifully participated in all three group games against Germany, Switzerland, and Hungary. That loan period guaranteed him the opportunity to try to be called up to the Scotland side for the Euro 2024 campaign. After completing his medical, McKenna is allegedly in Spain to finalize a contract with Las Palmas, who recently signed fellow Premier League free agent Oliver McBurnie on a three-year contract following his departure from Sheffield United.
