Destiny Udogie has expressed his gratitude to his Tottenham Hotspur teammates, particularly Guglielmo Vicario, since joining the club.
In an extended interview with football.london, Udogie stated that he already feels like he’s known the Spurs players for ten years.
Furthermore, the full back thought himself fortunate to have a fellow countryman like Vicario join the club at the same time.
“The whole team was really nice [when I joined],” Udogie added.
“I was fortunate.” Vic arrived at the same moment, but everyone assisted me in settling in quickly.
“It was perfect for me to have team-mates like them because, once I came, it was like I’d known them for 10 years.”
Of course, this may help to explain how the 20-year-old has started so well and so rapidly.
Since joining Ange Postecoglou‘s side from Udinese, Udogie has assimilated quickly to both the team and the Premier League.
And, alongside Pedro Porro and Yves Bissouma, the Italian appears to be vital to this effort.
Udogie appreciates having Vicario beside him at Tottenham.
Given their success at Tottenham this season, both Udogie and £16 million Vicario must be aiming for their first senior caps for Italy.
Vicario was recently called up to the Italy squad, however he did not play.
Furthermore, Udogie has been a standout for the U21s but has yet to receive a senior call up, which could change very soon.
Fans may hope that Udogie and Vicario can remain fixtures for Italy for some time, much like earlier Tottenham sides were the backbone of the England squad.
James Maddison is another youngster who may be expecting to advance his international career as a result of his Spurs form.
Despite being regarded as ‘world-class’ by analysts and fans alike, Maddison has yet to make an impact for England.
