Destiny Udogie, a Tottenham Hotspur defender, has commended midfielder Yves Bissouma after being impressed by him in training.
In Tottenham Hotspur training, Yves Bissouma is virtually difficult to stop.
That is the opinion of Tottenham defender Destiny Udogie, who spoke to The Athletic.
Tottenham have made a solid start to the Ange Postecoglou era, playing an appealing brand of football in the early going.
A handful of players appear to be performing significantly better than they were under Antonio Conte, with Bissouma being a prime example.
Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma is praised by Destiny Udogie.
Tottenham paid a reported £25 million for Bissouma in 2022, with the fee rising to £35 million.
The Mali international had performed admirably for Brighton and Hove Albion, but Conte was not impressed.
Postecoglou has rapidly established Bissouma as an important member of the Tottenham team, with Bissouma flourishing at the heart of his midfield.
Bissouma appears to be enjoying life under Postecoglou, and he has already received praise from Udogie, the left back.
The Italian has stated that taking the ball away from Bissouma in training is simply impossible, praising his confidence and dribbling abilities.
Udogie also praised Bissouma’s passing abilities, claiming that he impressed on the first day of training despite losing training games.
“You can’t take the ball away from him,” Udogie asserts. “The assurance, the skill in driving the ball.” He’s one of the top, top players in terms of passes. He impressed me from the beginning. Despite this, he constantly loses in training games. I’m not sure why. “Romero’s team is always victorious,” he continued.
Tottenham will be without Bissouma this weekend.
Bissouma will be unavailable for Tottenham’s match against Aston Villa on Sunday.
Bissouma received his fifth yellow card of the season in Wolverhampton Wanderers‘ 2-1 defeat before the international break.
This is not what Tottenham needed right now, given the absences of James Maddison, Cristian Romero, and Micky van de Ven.
The absence of Bissouma will drastically alter Tottenham’s midfield, and Postecoglou will no sure be lamenting the fact that he is out at the same time as Maddison.
In Bissouma‘s case, at least it’s only one game, and Tottenham fans – and Postecoglou – are definitely looking forward to his return.
