On Saturday, Leeds United recovered from two goals down to defeat Norwich City 3-2.
Leeds United won 3-2 away at Norwich City on Saturday, putting up perhaps their greatest second half effort of the 2023/24 Championship season so far.
Daniel Farke beat his former team after a Shane Duffy own goal put them back in it, with Crysencio Summerville scoring a late brace to earn the Whites the three points.
Leeds produced a solid overall performance, although a few players faltered, including summer addition Joel Piroe.
The Dutchman has now scored five goals in nine league appearances for Leeds, but his performances have been mixed.
On Saturday, Leeds Live evaluated his performance as a 5/10 as he started in an awkward no.10 position, with journalist Beren Cross commenting about his performance:
“Another difficult afternoon where he struggled to know where to put himself.”
Leeds are now third in the Championship table, six points behind Ipswich Town, who had their Friday night game against Rotherham United postponed.
Piroe at Leeds United…
Piroe has had a rough start to his career.
Despite averaging more than one goal every two games thus far, he’s had to play in this awkward no.10 position in most games, and he’s been fairly absent in most games.
He didn’t have much of an impact on Saturday, and there were some calls for Farke to drop Piroe, especially if he’s not going to play him as a no.9 every week.
Leeds have a lot of attacking talent in their squad, so Farke could start Patrick Bamford instead of Piroe, who would still be a crucial player even if he was utilised more sparingly.
