Dom Matteo believes Leeds are a much better team when 25-year-old starts.

Dan James is currently playing some of his greatest football of his career, and Dominic Matteo told LUTV’s Matchday Preview that he makes Leeds United look “more balanced” when he is in Daniel Farke’s lineup.

Despite only playing 11 of the 15 games for club and country, James, 25, has already scored 10 goals and assisted 10 times. On Saturday, he added to his tally with a brace against Huddersfield.

The winger has been on fire this season, and it’s because of that that he’s been named first choice ahead of Willy Gnonto and Jaidon Anthony. He and Cree Summerville are leading the charge for us out wide.

Leeds travel to Leicester on Friday in a big encounter that pits first place against third place at the King Power Stadium. Farke is expected to name an unchanged Leeds side against them, therefore James is a foregone conclusion.

Ex-Leeds captain Matteo remarked ahead of the game that Leeds appear “more balanced” with former Manchester United man James in the team as he continues to thrive. He lauded the winger’s finishing ability.

“When he plays, we appear more balanced.” His ending is really superb. Perhaps Farke has been advising him. David O’Leary used to tell attackers, “Don’t be afraid to take those shots.”

Dominic Matteo: Leeds are better balanced when Dan James plays.
This season, James‘ form has most likely surprised many. Goals, assists, and overall contribution to the game. It’s impressive enough to have kept Gnonto out of the starting lineup at this point. But he must persevere.

Speed on the counter-attack will be critical against a Leicester side that is expected to keep the ball at the King Power. It appears like the game will be ideal for James. It might be ideal for the winger.
