Eberechi Eze: Major update on release clause as Tottenham and Man City chase

If Crystal Palace wants to keep Eberechi Eze this summer, they will need to compete with other clubs for his services.

On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior writer Pete O’Rourke highlighted that there have been conflicting claims over whether Eze has a release clause in his contract. Last November, the England international signed a new contract with the Eagles, which would keep him at Selhurst Park until 2027.

O’Rourke stated that Manchester City had previously expressed an interest in signing the 25-year-old, and Tottenham are keeping an eye on his status in south London.

Eberechi Eze could depart Crystal Palace this summer.

Palace are obviously keen to maintain their prized asset, who has put in a number of spectacular displays since joining from QPR in 2020.

Eze has eight goals and five assists this season, as he continues to make his case for increased international notice.

The aggressive midfielder has been instrumental in the Eagles’ recent improvement under new manager Oliver Glasner, who has led them to five consecutive victories.

Selhurst Park officials will be hoping that the Englishman’s long-term future is with the Croydon-based club, but they are anticipated to face a battle to retain him.

According to reports, Eze’s contract does not include a “straightforward release clause,” and any deal will be “complex,” with percentages split between himself, his former club, and Palace.

The Eagles are only said to be interested in entertaining offers of around £60 million to allow him leave the club this summer.
