Erik ten Hag may receive a bonus signing from Man Utd before the transfer window closes

Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, might bring in more new players before the transfer market closes on September 1

Manchester United still has time to add a valuable player before the transfer window closes. Memphis Depay is reportedly ‘considering an offer’ to return to Old Trafford, five and a half years after his left, according to reports in Spain. Despite speculation that the Red Devils’ business is finished for the summer. A spectacular late return is possible given that Erik ten Hag is eager to strengthen his team and that Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit is still a possibility.

Tyrell Malacia

The first person to come was Tyrell Malacia, a Dutch international who arrived from Feyenoord.

Following them from Ajax and Brentford, respectively, Lisandro Martinez and Christian Eriksen arrived, and Casemiro and Antony have since also moved to the Premier League.

Many people now claim that United’s summer business is over. The Glazers might believe they have sufficiently funded Ten Hag after spending £200 million already.

Depay, 28, is reportedly ‘considering an offer’ to make a sensational comeback to Old Trafford, according to media in Catalonia.

Barcelona has declared the Dutch international surplus to requirements as they aim to raise money to improve their financial predicament.

And given that Ten Hag is allegedly still interested in a No 9, it’s feasible that Old Trafford may see a huge comeback.

Depay, of course, previously worked for United

Back in the summer of 2015, Louis van Gaal signed his fellow countryman, beating out competition from Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool.

Many believed United had acquired a player who had the ability to rank among the best in the world at the time.

In his final season with the team, Depay had been destructive for PSV Eindhoven, scoring 22 goals and dishing out five assists in his final 30 games.

And by negotiating a £26 million agreement, United was able to stave off interest from both local and European rivals.

Depay got off to a good start, scoring twice in a 3-1 Champions League victory over Club Brugge while wearing the team’s renowned No. 7 shirt over his back.

But after that, his fitness alarmingly declined, and he was never able to bounce back.

He was not included in the United team for the 2016 FA Cup final victory over Crystal Palace, just before Van Gaal released him.

And Jose Mourinho ultimately sold Depay to Lyon after concluding that the current Barcelona star wasn’t good enough. But he has since rebuilt his professional life.

Depay was impressive when playing for Lyon, netting 76 goals in 178 appearances while recovering his confidence and joie de vivre.

He has consistently performed admirably at the international level, scoring 42 goals in 80 appearances while donning the national colors.Currently, returning to United may be in the cards.

Even so, it appears that any future deal will mainly depend on what happens with Ronaldo.

Ronaldo wants out of Old Trafford and is still holding out hope that a Champions League team would come to his rescue before the deadline.

Depay’s signing might be a bonus one United makes before Thursday’s deadline, as it appears that they have made him an offer.

Anthony Elanga might also be loaned out as part of any deal, despite the fact that the Sweden international still has a lot to learn in order to become a world-beater.

Therefore, it will be interesting to observe how the following few days play out.
