Ethan Ampadu has nicknamed Glen Kamara in the Leeds United dressing room this season.

Glen Kamara and Ethan Ampadu were Leeds United’s midfield partners for the first half of the season.

The two players complimented each other excellently in the heart of the ground, with Ampadu shielding the back four and Kamara linking action further up the pitch.

They were both part of a massive midfield renovation at Elland Road last summer, when Tyler Adams, Marc Roca, Weston McKennie, and Adam Forshaw all left following relegation.

Ampadu and Kamara were two main goals for Daniel Farke upon his arrival, along with Ilia Gruev from Werder Bremen and Archie Gray’s promotion to the first squad.

The former has had to fill in at centre-back since the turn of the year due to Pascal Struijk’s injury, but they clearly have a nice relationship both on and off the pitch.

Ampadu has nicknamed Kamara behind the scenes at Leeds.

Kamara is still waiting for his first goal for Leeds since joining from Rangers, but it is unlikely to happen soon unless he begins shooting. Incredibly, he has only taken five shots in 37 league outings for the Whites.

Though it can be irritating at times, Kamara is in the team for a reason, and he contributes significantly to Leeds’ success when he is on the pitch.

Kamara is an excellent ball-keeper, completing 92.7% of his 1949 attempted passes (FBref). His link-up play on the left with Crysencio Summerville and Junior Firpo has also been an important element of Leeds’ assault.

However, Kamara’s most eye-catching talent is his ability to dribble his way out of tight situations using rapid body faints and small Cruyf spins.

Clearly, his Leeds teammates have noticed, as the Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Ampadu has even designated a unique moniker for him behind the scenes.

The Welshman is reported to have nicknamed Kamara’snake hips’ because to his ability to get out of trouble when you least expect it.

Leeds need a replication of Kamara’s Norwich City performance in the play-off final.

Leeds’ play-off final opponents, Southampton, are a possession-based team, therefore Kamara will need to be at his best at Wembley.

After winning man-of-the-match in a tight first leg against Norwich City in the semi-finals, the 28-year-old controlled the midfield in the second leg.

Leeds are likely to see less of the ball against the Saints, therefore it will be up to Kamara, the Whites’ most efficient player in possession, to ensure they use it effectively when they do.

Furthermore, as evidenced by Will Smallbone’s goals in both league matches against Leeds and the play-off semi-final against West Bromwich Albion, he excels at making late midfield runs into the box.

To prevent things from becoming an issue, Kamara must ensure that he is always switched on.
