Jack Harrison, a winger, has returned to Everton on loan from Leeds United for the 2024–25 campaign, the club confirmed.
After a productive season-long loan with Sean Dyche’s team in 2023–24, the 27-year-old returns to Merseyside for the Toffees’ final campaign at Goodison Park.
Harrison‘s contract had a condition that allowed him to leave Leeds again and sign with a premier league team if Leeds failed to clinch promotion back to the league, according to the Liverpool Echo.
After that, Everton decided to re-sign the winger, who finished the previous season with 35 appearances in all competitions and four goals and three assists, by taking advantage of this provision.
Harrison becomes Everton’s second acquisition of the summer transfer season, following midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, who joined from Aston Villa on Saturday for a reported £9 million.
Harrison: ‘Everton a terrific club to play football’
Harrison told evertontv about his choice to rejoin the club, “It’s great to be back. Everton is a tremendous club with a fantastic set of boys, and I’m looking forward to getting back into full pre-season training.
“Last year, I really enjoyed myself at the club. We had to endure a lot of difficulty, but we were able to persevere and have a successful season overall.
“There are numerous reasons for wanting to return to Everton. I believe that everyone at the club, including the supporters, the staff, the manager, and my teammates, made me feel right at home, which is where you want to be as a player. It’s an excellent place to play football.
“Also, I know I have a lot more to offer. That gives me even more drive to return to the pitch and prove to myself and Everton Football Club that I am capable of doing more. This season, I’ll be able to enjoy a complete pre-season and hopefully hit the ground running.”
Harrison deal is a ‘priority’ for Everton.
Everton manager Dyche added: “We’re delighted that Jack will be returning to our squad and look forward to working with him again.”
“He made an important contribution to the progress we made last term, both in terms of our attacking output and the defensive steel throughout the team, while his work ethic and willingness to put in the hard yards matches what we expect from our players.”
Director of Football Kevin Thelwell added: “Bringing Jack back to Everton was one of our top priorities this summer, so it’s great to have been able to agree on his season-long loan early in the transfer window.”
“You witnessed last season what attributes he brings to our squad and how he contributed to the progress we made under Sean and his coaching staff.
“Jack was eager to return to Everton, which speaks volumes about how much he enjoys being part of this club, and we are looking forward to him helping us to progress in the season ahead.”
Harrison, who helped Everton avoid relegation from the Premier League last season and finish 15th, is presently in Miami for off-season training and will shortly meet up with his Toffees teammates ahead of pre-season next month.
