Exclusive: Brighton have set their sights on Celtic sensation.

According to Football Insider, Brighton is keeping a close eye on Celtic midfielder Matt O’Riley.

The Premier League club has been blown away by the 22-year-old, who has made an immediate impact since joining the Hoops from MK Dons in January 2022.

Brighton is thought to be one of several Premier League clubs keeping an eye on O’Riley.

Brighton scouts have been watching the Fulham academy product on a regular basis as they evaluate potential midfield options.

Celtic consider O’Riley to be one of their prize assets and have him under contract until 2027.

He is a prolific midfield scorer who put on a midweek Champions League masterclass against Atletico Madrid in Wednesday’s 2-2 draw.

This season, the Denmark youth international has made 13 appearances, scoring six goals and assisting four times.

The fact that two of those assists came in the Champions League has not gone unnoticed by recruitment experts.

O’Riley made a name for himself at Fulham‘s youth academy before being released by the senior team in 2020. He was then without a club until signing with MK Dons in January 2021. A year later, he joined Celtic.

The midfielder has become a Parkhead fan favorite and has taken his game to a new level under Brendan Rodgers this season.

Brighton was interested in midfield teammate Reo Hatate in the summer and sent scouts to watch the Japan international throughout last season, according to Football Insider, but Hatate stayed in Glasgow and even signed a contract extension at Parkhead ahead of possible January and summer 2024 interest.
