Joe Rodon campaigned to join Leeds United this summer, despite interest from Premier League clubs.
On the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke claimed that the Wales international wanted to return to Elland Road this summer.
Following a successful loan last season, Rodon signed a permanent contract with the West Yorkshire-based Championship club for £10 million.
According to sources, the central defender tried to make the trade happen, despite others believing the opportunity had passed after Leeds failed to achieve promotion to the Premier League the previous season.
Rodon was brought up when the two teams began negotiating over Archie Gray, who joined Spurs for £40 million.
According to insiders, Rodon had choices to continue in the top flight, with Ipswich Town and Southampton making approaches to sign him.
Leeds United will add a first-team regular.
Rodon was projected to play little for Tottenham this season, thus the move is seen favourably.
Last season, while on loan, the 26-year-old established himself as a regular under Daniel Farke, appearing in 50 games across all competitions.
Spurs were able to cash in on a peripheral player and boost Ange Postecoglou‘s transfer budget.
Tottenham will look to reinvest that money in the squad this summer to help strengthen it.
