Exclusive: Spurs to accept offers for numerous stars, then complete late midfielder signing

Tottenham intend to release a number of fringe squad players this month before signing a new midfielder late in the transfer window, according to Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke said that Ange Postecoglou is attempting to “clear the decks” of players who do not fit into his long-term plans.

Following many first-team departures this month, the club wants more to leave before signing a central midfielder, which is their primary position.

According to Football Insider (16 January), Tottenham will consider bids for Ryan Sessegnon and Bryan Gil this month.

Neither has played consistently this season, and the club is willing to let them go if a suitable offer is received.

Hugo Lloris has left the club for MLS side Los Angeles FC, and Eric Dier has joined Bayern Munich on a loan-to-buy deal.

The club has also approved other loan moves, including Japhet Tanganga to Millwall and Sergio Regulion to Brentford.

Spurs are said to be actively pursuing midfielders on their target list.

According to Football Insider (19 January), Chelsea‘s January transfer for midfielder Conor Gallagher has fallen through because the club wants to keep him for the rest of the season.
