Fabrizio Romano has provided an update on the Reds’ managerial search. Stating that they now have a “concrete” alternative in case they do not secure Alonso.

The coach in question is Amorim, who has been a revelation for Sporting Lisbon since taking over the Portuguese capital club in 2020.

Ruben Amorim ranks higher than Roberto De Zerbi in Liverpool’s pecking order.

“Based on what I’ve heard, I believe he is currently in second place. He also has a release clause in his new contract with Sporting.

“Negotiating with Portuguese clubs is difficult, especially for special people like Ruben Amorim, but Liverpool‘s interest is clear.

 

“I think Amorim is in position number two, he is a candidate for the Liverpool job at this moment more than Roberto De Zerbi.”

Liverpool fans will undoubtedly enjoy the possibility of Amorim taking over at Anfield if Alonso is unavailable.
