Antonio Nusa will not join Brentford this summer after his January transfer to the Premier League team fell through, but a number of other elite clubs are still keen in the young Norwegian star.
Antonio Nusa experienced a rollercoaster of emotions during the January transfer window. The 18-year-old emerged as a target for Tottenham unexpectedly, and a move to North London appeared to be on the books at one point.
However, Brentford jumped in and appeared to have sealed the deal. That is, until medical troubles derailed the agreement, with Brentford concerned that Nusa was not totally fit due to knee and back problems (Ben Jacobs).
More recently, journalist Sacha Tavolieri suggested that Brentford had dropped their interest in signing Nusa, perhaps opening the door for Spurs in the summer.
Premier League clubs retain interested in Antonio Nusa.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has released a fresh report that looks to confirm this, revealing that Brentford will not sign Nusa, despite the fact that several other great clubs, including some from the Premier League, are still interested.
He tweeted: “Antonio Nusa‘s move to Brentford will not go ahead – it was put on hold in January due to complications. The deal was verbally agreed upon, and medical tests were conducted in England, but it ultimately crumbled. Several European clubs are currently interested in signing Nusa, including Premier League clubs.
I am not sure how I feel about signing Antonio Nusa anymore. I know the medical issues appear to have been resolved, but I’m interested what they were all about. Brentford would not have abandoned the deal for no reason, and any new signing should be approached with caution due to probable underlying injury issues.
