After joining Manchester City, Finlay Gorman confirmed his departure from Leeds United on social media.
On Sunday (7 January), the England U-16 international confirmed his move from Elland Road by uploading a photo of himself signing a contract with the Premier League champions.
The 15-year-old winger claimed he is “delighted” to have signed a contract with the Citizens and “can’t wait to get started” after turning down offers from a number of top-flight clubs in recent months.
Hard to say no
have been anticipating this news for several weeks, but losing one of their most potential young players would be immensely disappointing.
The teenager had been getting glowing praises for his efforts with the Whites’ U-18s side, with a video of him going on a mazy run from the halfway line becoming viral a few months ago.
That clearly piqued the interest of some of the country’s most powerful clubs, who have been lined up to sign the winger. While his chances of playing first-team football at Elland Road may have been higher in the short term, the opportunity for any young player to join Man City would be difficult to pass up.
Working under Pep Guardiola in the future and competing for big prizes on a regular basis is something the Whites simply cannot compete with, assuming he makes his way into the first-team setup further down the line.
