First summertime permanent transfer agreed upon by Tottenham Hotspur: report

Tottenham Hotspur have began business in the transfer window, ahead of a hectic summer.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed on their first summer transfer.

Ange Postecoglou is hoping to mix up his side this summer as he prepares for his second full season in charge of the club.

Despite losing top scorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last year, the Lilywhites appear to be on their way back to Europe after an excellent Premier League season.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham will let Japhet Tanganga to depart the club for Millwall this summer.

The Spurs star spent the second part of the season on loan at The Den, appearing 18 times and scoring two goals.

He also had a terrible start to the 2023/24 season on loan at FC Augsburg in Germany, when he didn’t make a single first-team appearance.

Milwall head coach Neil Harris expressed his wish to maintain Tanganga ahead of his side’s season-ending encounter against Swansea City last weekend.

Harris told The South London Press: “Japhet has started every game for me, so he’s obviously doing great.

“When discussing loan players who are under contract with other football clubs, you must exercise extreme caution and respect. Ultimately, Japh is contracted to Spurs, and they have a relationship and must make decisions about Japhet’s destiny among themselves.

“Now you have Japhet’s cognitive process; what does he wish to do? He is a young man who has been on loan and has spent time abroad in Germany. Where does he envision his future?

“Then, for us, it’s all about team balance. Japh has done exceptionally well. I am a firm believer that when players do well on loan, there is a chance you will work with them again in the future.

“I can name players I’ve worked with in the past, such as Jake (Cooper) and Sav (George Saville), who joined us around the same time as Jed Wallace.” We made all of these loans permanent.

“Like some of the other men, we may need to be patient with how long they take to make decisions – both teams and individuals.

“I think we’ll be very close to those conversations with their clubs.”
