Nottingham Forest have made Benfica aware of their interest in Florentino Luis.
The Reds are desperate to bolster their midfield before the transfer deadline on Friday and have now turned their focus to Luis.
According to The Athletic, Forest have seemingly turned their attention to the Portuguese performer. The 24-year-old will be allowed to leave his current club after falling down the pecking order.
This summer, Forest has targeted a number of midfielders. Although Ibrahim Sangare has been one of the club’s top transfer targets, little progress has been made on that front as of yet.
Luis might be easier to find. He has slipped down Benfica’s pecking order, and the current transfer window may see him leave the team.
The young player at Benfica has advanced through the ranks. He has played 90 times for his current club and 24 times while on loan to Getafe of the La Liga.
For his efforts while wearing the red of Benfica, Luis has received some appreciation. He was described as “top-notch” by Jamie Carragher and as “exceptional and tenacious” by Rui Vitoria.
By the time the transfer window closes, Forest’s midfield may look drastically different. While Andrey Santos has already joined from Chelsea, Remo Freuler has been mentioned as a potential transfer target.
