Following a string of Elland Road exits, Leeds United is actively seeking several new recruits

After a number of exit transactions, Leeds United is now “actively” looking to add reinforcements in numerous positions.

The emphasis comes after “offloading several fringe players” thus far in the transfer window; Cresswell joins the ranks of players who have departed permanently, including Marc Roca, Jamie Shackleton, and Kristoffer Klaesson, while Darko Gyabi, Sonny Perkins, and Sam Greenwood have all left on loan.

With just Joe Rodon joining in the opposite direction as a significant factor in the first team and Alex Cairns now confirmed as the reserve goalkeeper, Leeds United has also made the blockbuster sale of Archie Gray to Tottenham.

It is hard to argue that the Whites team isn’t weaker now than it was before their disappointing loss to Southampton in the Play Off Final to conclude the season.

Though Rodon was already a prominent player on loan last season, the signing to bring him in could be crucial, since it merely stops the playing staff from deteriorating further.

No matter how it’s framed, the loss of homegrown talent Gray is devastating. Although the departures of Diego Llorente and Roca are scarcely comparable, there hasn’t been much to shout about for supporters this summer.

The young player’s dismal year-long battle with Farke comes to an end with Cresswell’s departure, and club captain Liam Cooper is expected to follow [TEAM talk, 3 July].Leeds’ inability to win promotion to the Premier League has left them open to high-profile player departures, like that of Crysencio Summerville [Fabrizio Romano, June 17] and Glen Kamara [Ouest France, July 5].

Thus, the need for a second central defender is inevitable, and Junior Firpo’s uncertain future suggests that additional full-back reinforcements are probably needed given his injury history and Sam Byram’s injury history.

Due to the possibility of either Patrick Bamford or Joel Piroe following [Daily Mail, July 1], the wide options will be limited due to Jaidon Anthony’s loan expiring and the potential sales of Summerville and Willy Gnonto [Graham Smyth, June 14].

Farke and his recruitment team have limited time to replace the voids in preparation for another push for promotion should they lose another central midfield player in addition to Gray.
