Hwang Ui-jo, a striker, has completed a permanent transfer from Nottingham Forest to Alanyaspor in Turkey.
The attacker and the Super Lig team have agreed to a one-year contract. Having never participated in a competitive game for the first squad, he is leaving the Reds.
“Our club has signed a one-year contract with South Korean center forward Hwang Ui-jo, who played on loan for our team last season,” Alanyaspor stated on their website. Hwang, welcome back to our family.
Hwang participated in Forest’s summer 2022 hiring spree after the team was promoted to the Premier League. At an estimated £4 million, he moved from Bordeaux to join.
He signed a contract with the Reds but was quickly loaned to Olympiacos, a team controlled by teammate Evangelos Marinakis. He played for FC Seoul during the second part of the 2022–2023 season after failing to make an impression in Greece.
He went on loan to Norwich City last season, where he made 18 appearances and scored three goals, before moving on to Alanyaspor. After spending his previous assignment in Turkey, where he made eight league appearances and scored one goal, he is back permanently.
The 32-year-old’s only real opportunity to play for Forest was as an unutilized substitute the previous campaign. In addition to the Carabao Cup matchup with Burnley, he was benched for the Premier League matches against Sheffield United and Manchester United in August 2023.
