Following Everton’s firing, former Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez has been mentioned as a potential managerial candidate.

Rafa Benitez, a former manager of Everton, Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Chelsea, is apparently in the running to lead Olympiacos

Less than a year after leaving Everton, Rafa Benitez has been mentioned in connection with a possible management comeback.

The Toffees fired the Spaniard in January after a dismal stretch of results.

Despite leading Everton to 11 points in their first five games, the results gradually deteriorated under the Goodison hot seat.

Before Benitez was fired following a 2-1 loss to Premier League basement team Norwich City, the Blues went on a run of just one win in 13 games. He worked there for a total of six and a half months.

As manager after Benitez, Frank Lampard successfully led Everton to safety.

Since leaving Goodison, Benitez, who led Liverpool to the Champions League in 2005 and the FA Cup the following year, has remained jobless.

Last season, Corberan led Huddersfield Town to the Championship play-off final on a shoestring budget until Nottingham Forest defeated them at Wembley.

But after two victories, two ties, and a loss, he left Olympiacos. They are in fifth place and are seven points behind Panathinaikos.

Benitez and Laurent Blanc, a former PSG and France manager, are rumored to be candidates for the position.

If Rafael Benitez, who has previously led Valencia, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Inter Milan, and Newcastle United, is hired by Olympiacos, James Rodriguez will once again be a teammate.

Benitez quickly decided the erratic Colombian was no longer needed after taking over as Everton’s manager.

Despite being recruited by Carlo Ancelotti in the summer of 2020, Rodriguez only stayed at Goodison for one season before being transferred to the Qatari team Al-Rayyan.

The attacking midfielder and Benitez previously worked together at Real Madrid, and the two are known to have a turbulent relationship. The attacking midfielder joined Olympiacos last week.
