According to the most recent sources, Leeds United are trying to move defender
this summer in order to free up transfer funds.
The Austrian defender joined Leeds United from RB Salzburg in January 2023, as the team battled for Premier League survival. The West Yorkshire club spent £11 million on the centre-back, but his stay with the club did not go as planned. Wober made only 19 appearances for the Whites as they were demoted from the top division.
In addition, a relegation provision that Leeds included in his contract when they brought him to English football forbade Wober from playing in the Premier League should the team be sent to the Championship, which is exactly what happened.
Consequently, the central defender was loaned to German team Borussia Monchengladbach for the entire season, where he made 27 appearances while helping the team battle relegation in the Bundesliga. But after Wober’s loan with Die Fohlen ended, he later joined Daniel Farke again.
However, Leeds United does not have any intentions to sign the 26-year-old until the 2024–2025 season. According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, the English team is willing to sell Wober this summer and is seeking a price tag of between £8.5 million and £10.2 million. Plettenberg has also revealed that Wober has been notified by the club of Monchengladbach’s desire to have him return for the upcoming season, albeit on a loan agreement.
