Former Real Madrid boss is eager to take over as Nottingham Forest manager in lieu of Steve Cooper

Julen Lopetegui is willing to take over as manager of Nottingham Forest if Steve Cooper is fired.

According to talkSPORT, Cooper might find himself in this predicament if Forest lose against Wolverhampton Wanderers.   So, what has been said about Nottingham Forest and their former manager, Julen Lopetegui? Let us investigate.

Steve Cooper
Julen Lopetegui is open to taking over as manager of Nottingham Forest.   According to talkSPORT, ex-Real Madrid and Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Julen Lopetegui is interested in taking over at Nottingham Forest.

On Saturday, Forest will face Wolves in the Premier League. According to TalkSPORT, head coach Steve Cooper is “unlikely to keep his job” if the Reds lose.

According to the article, Lopetegui is interested in taking over at Forest if Cooper is fired.

Steve Cooper
The former Real Madrid manager left Wolves in August and turned down the opportunity to work in Saudi Arabia. Lopetegui wants to return to the Premier League as a manager.

Julen Lopetegui could be an upgrade over Steve Cooper.

Steve Cooper should not be fired by Nottingham Forest, in my opinion. After all, it was under his leadership that the Reds avoided relegation to the Championship at the end of last season.

Cooper, who has been connected with Crystal Palace, will be able to guide Forest through this difficult phase and ensure that the squad remains in the Premier League next season.

However, I believe Julen Lopetegui would be an improvement over Cooper. The 57-year-old is a far more experienced manager who, if given the cash and support to sign the players he desires, might eventually get Forest to compete for European places in the Premier League table.  Lopetegui has previously managed Spain, Real Madrid, and Sevilla, and he performed an excellent job at Wolves.
