West Ham forward Gianluca Scamacca is on his way to Atalanta after the two clubs agreed on a fee.
The forward joined the Hammers for £30.5 million last summer, although he only made 27 appearances in all competitions last season. He failed to find goals as well, scoring only eight times in his first – and what will now be his only – year with the club.West Ham and Atalanta have reached a contract of £27.6 million – a fixed £22.5 million plus £5.1 million in add-ons – with personal terms not considered to be an issue and a deal expected to be finalized soon.Scamaccca will be the third West Ham player to depart the club this summer, following Declan Rice’s £105 million move to Arsenal and Manuel Lanzini’s free transfer to Rival Plate.
They have, however, launched a multi-million pound proposal for Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez after agreeing a five-year contract with the Mexican, and remain optimistic that a deal will be completed.Fans have also slammed Moyes after the club’s final pre-season friendly, a 4-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen, with less than a week till the start of the Premier League season against Bournemouth.Despite the departures, Michail Antonio and Danny Ings remain as attacking options for West Ham, with Divin Mubama excelling throughout pre-season.
The Hammers’ summer results have been mixed, as they have also lost to Rennes and drawn with non-league Dagenham and Redbridge. They have, however, beaten Tottenham Hotspur, Boreham Wood, and Perth Glory, and enter the current season having won their first major trophy since 1980 at the end of previous season when they won the Europa Conference League.
