Leeds United are hoping to complete their second summer signing in the coming days.
According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth, Leeds are ‘hopeful’ of completing a transfer for a new custodian this week.
Following the arrival of Ethan Ampadu from Chelsea last week, several reports suggested that the post of custodian would be the next priority.
And, despite a quiet few days following Ampadu’s arrival, it appears that they have made behind-the-scenes headway in their search for a new shotstopper.
Leeds are next in pre-season action on Thursday night against Nottingham Forest, and it is possible that he will be involved in some manner.
Leeds are hoping to finalise a goalkeeper agreement in the coming days.
Leeds have been connected with a number of goalkeepers this summer, but Alexander Nubel does not appear to be coming to Elland Road.
Nubel is likely to join Stuttgart on a season-long loan after reaching an agreement with Bayern Munich, with the German having stated his desire to remain in the Bundesliga from the start.
Karl Darlow has also been widely connected with a move to Leeds, and he appeared to be on his way to Bournemouth last week.
However, that move has slowed in recent days, so it remains to be seen whether Leeds have snuck in ahead of the Cherries.
Preston North End’s Freddie Woodman and Norwich City’s Angus Gunn have both been suggested as possible targets.
