Harry Kane might miss out on the opportunity to face Tottenham for the first time since joining Bayern Munich last summer.
The striker signed the German giants for £100 million after entering the final year of his contract with Spurs. During his time with the Premier League team, he established himself as a modern-day legend, although he was dissatisfied by his lack of silverware.
That prompted his choice to join Bayern, which had won the previous 11 Bundesliga titles.
But, although Kane has impressed, scoring 29 goals this season, Bayern has had a horrible season.
They are eight points behind Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen, have lost to Lazio in the Champions League last-16, and were eliminated from the DFB-Pokal by third-tier Saarbrucken in the second round.
Despite this, they remain one of Europe’s best teams and a major magnet for friendlies.
Spurs have already made plans for this summer’s preseason, with a match against Bayern Munich scheduled for August 2 in South Korea.
The game will be part of the Coupang Play Series event, which both clubs are participating in. Spurs typically travel to Asia for their tours due to captain Son Heung-min’s superstar status on the continent.
However, Kane’s availability is less certain than Son’s.
That is because the striker will captain England at this summer’s Euro 2024 tournament, and if they win, Kane will most likely be granted a prolonged rest, causing him to miss the trip.
The news of Kane’s return with Tottenham comes as his problems at Bayern continue.
Thomas Tuchel has declared that he will leave the club at the end of the season, following three consecutive defeats. “Harry takes care of himself.” He doesn’t need me. He’s not pleased with the connection in games. Neither are we.
“I’ve rarely seen such a difference between training and matches,”
Tuchel stated ahead of the Bochum setback.
“The way he scores in training, the way he converts his chances, it’s unbelievable. It’s world-class.
But we rarely see him in matches.
He acts like a captain. Everything is well with him.
Kane himself has stated that the club’s recent performances have been far from satisfactory. He demanded that his teammates start battling to turn things around.
“It’s been a really tough week. We have to find it among ourselves. We’re still in the race for the Bundesliga and in this tie. We have to keep fighting. We’re in a difficult spell. We have to fight,”
Kane told TNT Sports after the first leg defeat to Lazio.
“We have to turn it round. We have big games and big things to fight for. We’re not out of it, we will never give up. We just need to turn it around. One game or spark can turn it round.”
