Interim Sunderland manager Mike Dodds believes Leeds United manager Daniel Farke will appreciate the Black Cats’ performance more after re-watching the game.
Farke praised Sunderland’s performance at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday evening, praising their defensive work, but he did suggest that the Black Cats had ‘parked the bus’ on several occasions.
The inverse number During his post-match press conference, Dodds laughed off that suggestion, appearing to disagree with Farke’s terminology and description of his team’s performance.
Leeds were shut out in the north-east and created little of note until Joel Piroe’s 89th-minute effort was cleared off the line. Dodds felt his team followed their game plan ‘to a tee’ and was pleased to have taken six points from back-to-back home games against West Bromwich Albion and Farke’s Whites.
“I’ll answer that diplomatically,” Dodds said after learning of Farke’s post-game remarks.
“We’ve taken six points from two very strong opponents and two very good coaches.” I’m sure when he [Farke] watches the game again, as I’m sure many good coaches do, he’ll realise how good we were.”
